WEYMOUTH were comprehensively beaten in six pairs matches at Knighton Heath Golf Club, Bournemouth.

A brilliantly sunny day at Knighton Heath Golf Club failed to inspire a team of senior golfers from Weymouth Golf Club who saw all six of their pairs handsomely beaten by a team led by Philip Boddy.

Weymouth’s side was not completely bereft of success, however, as Mike Mason won the ‘nearest-the-pin’ bottle of wine for his efforts on the 103-yard 14th hole.

Without doubt, the highlight of the day was 85-year-old Tim Bunce’s maiden hole-in-one on the 202-yard par three third hole.

Retired bank manager Bunce has played all his 35 years of golf at Knighton Heath and to mark the fulfilling of every golfer’s dream, he generously funded the table wine at a well-received post-match meal of roast beef followed by a honeycomb sundae.
