LEWIS Craddock scored 41 points and gained a handicap reduction to top Division One as the men at Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club competed for The President’s Putter, a Stableford competition with 55 starters.

Craddock carded 12 pars, two birdie twos and an eagle on the difficult 12th hole.

Martin Horton was runner-up in that division with 39 points, while Robin Ormsby topped Division Two scoring 37 points and the best score in Division three came from Mike Huxford with 38.

Results: Division One: Lewis Craddock (4) 41 points, Martin Horton (11) 39, Mannie Wellman (Away) 38.

Division Two: Rob Ormsby (16) 37 points, Andy Smith (17) 36, (acb) Roger Galpin (18) 34.

Division Three: Mike Huxford (20) 38 points, Stuart Gay (22) 37, (acb) Brian Osborne (24) 33.

The midweek Stableford was won by Kevin Payne (9) with 39 points and Andy Dennis (7) came second with 34 points.

Veterans’ Section

BRIDPORT’S veterans’ competition was a self-entry, single division Stableford and there were 39 entrants.

Scoring at the top was very tight and Malcolm Peach (17) bagged the top spot with 39 points, he was closely followed by the runner-up, Keith Brown (14) who carded 38 points.

There then followed three players all scoring 37 points, namely Richard Fox (19), James Clarke (26) and Peter Mowatt (15) and after count-back were placed in that order.

In the afternoon there was a home match versus Ashley Wood which was won by the Bridport team 4-2.

Ladies’ Section

ELIZABETH Thompson (22) and Vivienne Gill (29) took top spot winning the Ping 4BBB completion, with a convincing score of 39 points ahead of Ruth Donavon and Jane Dowling on 38 points.

Meanwhile, the June medal was played and in Division One first place, with the best score on the day, was Ruth Donovan (16) showing consistently good form with a nett score of 76.

The runner-up was Toshiko Ricketts (14) with nett score 78 and in third place saw Elizabeth Thompson (22) scoring a nett 79 also proving to be the one to beat.

Division Two saw Pat Baldwin (29) win with a magnificent score of nett 78, a very good result where Pat is going from strength to strength.
