NEW Bridport assistant-manager Ryan Dovell is relishing a homecoming to the Bees in a management position.
Dovell was appointed as boss Rich Robson’s number two – the duo having worked together while at Dorchester Town Reserves – to replace the outgoing Adam Fricker and Paddy Behan.
Dovell enjoyed several successful seasons at the Bees, quickly becoming a fans’ favourite at St Mary’s Field, and he hopes to continue his warm connection with the club.
He told the Bridport News: “I’m really, really pleased to be able to get back down to Bridport because I had some really good years down there playing.
“As soon as I saw Adam had left I messaged (Rich) and said ‘this would be a great opportunity for us’.
“It’s just a really good club to be at and I had some really good times down there.
“Rich has been on the lookout and always had options available to him. It was just a matter of time of waiting for the right club, the right opportunity to come along.
“Obviously with a club like Bridport it’s a really good club and I know a lot of the people down there, the chairman, the other staff and people behind the scenes.
“It was an easy option for me as a club that I really wanted to get back down to.”
Elsewhere, Bridport Youth FC are holding their signing morning at the Beehive on Saturday from 9am to 12pm. Any players from under-7 to under-18 are welcome.
