FOLLOWING relegation to Wadworth 6X Dorset & Wilts Two South, Bridport are to implement various strategies to increase the player numbers and to build a solid base to enable them to regain their One South status.

There are a several colts who have come through the excellent junior section who will be ready to play in the senior side next season.

However, in an effort to broaden the feeling of a community rugby club the Blues want to engage more with potential new players in Bridport and surrounding areas.

To this end they are setting up the concept of “Ready for Rugby” to take place at the town’s Leisure Centre in the off season.

They want to target all existing players to improve their fitness ready for pre-season training but more importantly they want to encourage any newcomers to the game to come down to the club and embrace the concept of rugby circuit training.

You may not be specifically wanting to play rugby but would like to improve your overall fitness under the tutelage of Rich Layzell, a qualified personal trainer from the centre.

A club spokesman dangled the opportunity to experience the “camaraderie” at the Blues.

They said: “The hope is that by joining these sessions you will be encouraged to join the club and that you will experience the camaraderie that exists when you play rugby with your local club.”

The sessions, which are free, take place each Wednesday at the Leisure Centre starting at 7pm.

All those that are interested need is to turn up with some trainers and a drink.
