ST GEORGE’S will be concentrating on the league this year as their cup defence is over already in the Read Woodruff Dorchester and District Evening League.

With ground unavailability meaning a change of day, their weakened team could only manage 70-8, Ollie Legg taking three wickets for Cattistock, who easily passed the total and the victors next face Abbotsbury.

Frampton comfortably put out Puddletown RFC, James Pretty starring with 3-9 and 30 not out in an eight-wicket win.

Chris Eastment was man of the match for Puddletown Reserves as he followed up his two wickets with 31 not out.

Simon Cruickshank did his best with three wickets for 13 but his Cosmos side were beaten by four wickets.

A much closer game saw Charlton Down defeat Plush from their last ball. Tom Durston’s 1-12 plus a vital run out and unbeaten 31 led Charlton Down home by four wickets.

There was much activity in Division Three, with Frampton making good progress.

They beat Puddletown RFC and Winfrith, the latter game turning on a spell of 2-3 by Chas Duerdoth and unbeaten 32 from Ben Golledge.

Rugby Club fared better against New Look, despite Manoj Somaratne’s 59 and 2-18, Jim Ross’ 46 leading to a 22-run win.

New Look also went down to Puddletown Reserves, making only 34-6 in their 16 overs as Puddletown eased to a 10-wicket victory.

The New Look batsmen did much better against Cattistock Seconds, Paul Chatterton scoring 49 in their 141-6, but this still left them 17 runs short as N Lorimer and Eric Woolard scored 38 each despite Chatterton’s 3-15.

Cattistock, however, went down to Winfrith, whose bowlers restricted them to only 60, the wickets being shared equally.

Skipper Ashley Hayes’ 23 not out made sure there was no mistake in Winfrith’s six-wicket winning margin.

In Division Two, Charlton Down played twice, scored 96 both times and lost twice.

Tom Durston was in the runs again with 47 against Dorchester Casuals but George Pavin’s 32 helped Casuals home by five wickets.

Simon Mitchem’s 56 helped Abbotsbury to 108-3, which left Charlton Down 12 short despite Jack Eveleigh’s 37.

Plush were much clearer victors by nine wickets in their match against Cerne Valley.

The only match reported in Division One was a close affair, with Martinstown just keeping Puddletown at bay, winning by eight runs.
