PORTLAND United have re-signed six members of their squad as the club makes their first moves during the close season.

Top scorer Jamie Symes has put pen to paper, as well as Sean Stewart plus mainstays Ross Doidge, Ed Bastick, Alex Godfrey and Shaun Bessant.

The Blues finished fourth in the Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division table last season, as well as reaching the final of the Sydenhams Wessex Football League Cup, where they lost to Baffins Milton Rovers.

Portland boss Brendon King was pleased with the signings and said that more could well be on the way.
King said: “It is all good news.

“We have got more planned for the rest of this week and if we get a few more tied up then get ready for pre-season, it is all good news.

“We spoke to all of the squad and I think the majority of them want to sign back on anyway so it was easy negotiations.

“Everyone was positive and everyone just wanted to get their names on the form.”
