BRIDPORT’s budding rugby players were treated to a training camp with top Premiership side Exeter Chiefs.

The Chiefs’ community team is running a series of training camps across the South West set up for youngsters in the region to develop their skills.

The concept is to let your child learn to ‘train like a Chief’ working alongside their team of professional coaches, who use the most up-to-date techniques to educate and improve the skill-set and knowledge of young players who want to find out more about the game.

Bridport’s camp was held for under-eights to under-14s and about 70 youngsters, the majority from Bridport, enjoyed a full day’s insight into the modern game coached by four of the Chiefs’ community coaches to improve their skill set in a range of activities and match-like scenarios.

The day was pronounced a great success by all parties and the club are already talking to the Chiefs about arranging another day in the summer with the morning devoted to the same age group and the afternoon for under-15s to colts.

Chiefs welcomed this approach and everybody is looking forward to a confirmation of the date.
