DORCHESTER Town boss Callum Brooks is relishing the chance to confirm the Magpies’ Evo-Stik Southern Premier South status against Tiverton Town at the Clayson Stadium today (3pm).

With 20th-placed Walton Casuals languishing four points behind the Magpies with two games left, Brooks’ men need only match the Stags’ result at Kings Langley to confirm their survival.

Speaking after a last-ditch 1-0 loss to Lango on Saturday, Brooks admitted an extra incentive would be to achieve safety in front of Dorchester’s home faithful.

He told Echosport: “I’ve got some reports on Tiverton. It’s very difficult to focus one game ahead of the one you’re on. We were very thorough with regards to (Kings Langley). Now the work starts for (Tiverton).

“We’ve got an opportunity to confirm our safety in front of our own supporters. I just urge them to come out in force. We will be doing everything we can to do our bit in our quest for safety. The more support, the more noise, the more positivity we can generate the better going into such a big game.”

Brooks also confirmed that centre-back Ross Carmichael would miss the remainder of the season with a knee ligament injury.

He said: “Ross won’t play this season. Our squad’s our squad now and they’re the same group that’s picked us up 11 points – which may well be enough.”
