BRIDPORT GIRLS 4

SEATTLE PIPSQUEAKS 3

BRIDPORT girls entertained a touring team from Seattle and in an entertaining match the home side won the day 4-3.

However, the real winner was girls’ youth football that has really arrived now in the sport.

With well over 100 spectators watching a thrilling game, the visitors took the lead after a fine attack starting from their keeper and several pinpoint passes playing the visiting striker clear on goal and she slotted cleanly in.

Bridport pulled back level and, after another strong attack, pulled ahead. The game flowed from end to end with some brilliant attacking and defending on show for the cheering supporters of both teams.

Two fine Bridport free-kicks helped the home side take the spoils, despite two further goals for Seattle, and after the game both teams and supporters attended a get together at the Ilchester Arms in Symondsbury, where the girls enjoyed getting to know each other and exchanged gifts from the coaches.

*Bridport YFC would like to thank Seattle coach Pip Thompson and Kitt, also Tim Russ for taking some brilliant photos of the day, referee Mark Tozer and to all that came and helped or supported the event.
