IN THE Men’s Midweek Stableford, Ted Stordy (13) with 40 points narrowly beat Martin Drennan (13) who carded 39 points in a tight affair at Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club, writes Peter Crowter.
Veterans’ Section
DOUG Howells came out on top in Division One with a score of 66 in the first round of the veterans’ Holmes Cup.
The fine, calm weather helped to produce some good scores particularly in Division One where three players came in with nett scores in the sixties.
Howells came out on top with a score of 85-19=66 but hot on his heels was Peter Marshall scoring 77-10=67, while Peter Mowat took the third spot with 84-15=69.
In Division Two, Geoff Ball 91-21=70 and David Inglesent 94-24=70 were the leaders with the former taking top place after count-back, while Richard Parry 93-22=71 was third after count-back.
Ladies’ Section
THE final of the 2018 Winter pairs, Carole Brown Cup knockout competition saw an exciting finish as Avril Brown (31) and Rosanne Bonfield (27) took victory, writes Avril Brown.
Second place saw Carole Brown (17) and Sally Woolmington (24) claim the runners-up spot.
Meanwhile, the Winter singles final in the Viv Gill Trophy knockout competition saw Anne Follett (36) triumphant and Liz Thompson (22) coming a close second.
