BRIDPORT’S Margaret Pestelle, Laura Taylor and Sue Walsh reached the All England Finals at Nottingham in the Over 60s’ Triples Competition after a surprisingly easy 17-8 win over North Petherton, two ends early.

The final will be on April 8.

Bridport Bees Over-60s side lost their county final 37-30 against the Dolphin (Poole) held at Bridport.

Playing on their own green the Bees were big favourites for the win and Arthur Stone, Keith Jenkins and Paul Hallett and Brian Baker, Bob Hill and John Burwood took early 7-4 leads but both trios dropped late five counts to see Dolphin pick up the trophy.

Bridport’s Mixed Friendly side had a tight 68-66 overall win over the Nomads. Daniel Humphries, Chris Thorner, David Jenkin and Mary Marsh took top rink award with a 22-12 win while Bernard Perry, Sue Lawton, Brian Suffling and David Aylott won 17-11.

Malcolm Mackenzie, Alan Lawton, Alan Wotherspoon and Jill Willcox plus Cheryl Mackenzie, Lawrence Henry, Margaret Fifield and Bob Willcox lost 23-17 and 20-12 respectively.
