DORCHESTER Town have announced the signing of James Granger from Basingstoke Town.

Granger, previously of Portsmouth’s academy and Eastleigh, joins from the Dragons and should be available for the Magpies’ trip to Walton Casuals today (3pm) subject to league approval.

It marks new Dorchester boss Callum Brooks’ second signing since becoming manager of the county town club, following the return of club stalwart Nathan Walker.

Granger, a midfielder, knows the Magpies’ boss from a spell on loan at Poole Town during the 2016/17 season and joins the resurgent Magpies, who are unbeaten in four league games.

Granger leaves the Dragons who are just one point and two places above Gosport Borough, who occupy the last relegation spot ahead of Frome Town and Staines Town.

In a statement online, Dorchester Town said: “Dorchester Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of James Granger from Basingstoke Town.

“The 22-year-old midfielder, who started his career at Portsmouth before signing for Eastleigh, has also previously worked with boss Callum Brooks during a loan spell at Poole Town.

“Subject to league approval, James could make his debut for the Magpies tomorrow afternoon as we travel to Walton Casuals (3pm).”
