BRIDPORT manager Adam Fricker emphasised caution ahead of hosting bottom-of-the-table side Shortwood United in the Toolstation Western Premier Division on Saturday (3pm).

The Woods are in the midst of a very difficult season.

Shortwood only gained their first league success of the season on Saturday, via a victory over fourth-placed Westbury United.

Fricker said: “From a playing perspective we know we are going to need to be cautious.

“They picked up their first win on Saturday so we are going to need to be at it.”

Discussing Shortwood, who have six points so far, Fricker is wary of the Woods being boosted by their victory.

Fricker said: “I think if you look at their results, while they are bottom of the league their results have been very tight.

“I think their first win was always going to come sooner rather than later and obviously they got that on Saturday against Westbury so they will be buoyed by that.”

A Leighton Thomas strike in the 37th minute decided the reverse fixture, with the Woods having proved stubborn opposition.

Fricker knows his side will have to be on it, but insisted they know that regardless of the opposition.

Fricker said: “We will have to again be at our best but we know that with whichever team we play in this league that we need to be all over it.”

On the injury front there are question marks over Braeden Symes, Matt Condliffe and Mark Salter, who all picked up knocks in the Bees’ 1-1 draw at Clevedon Town on Saturday.
