DORCHESTER’S Phoebe Kelman-Johns became the 2019 Dorset ASA County Swimming 100m Breaststroke Champion at the annual championships held at Littledown, Bournemouth.

Qualifying from the heats as second fastest qualifier, Kelman-Johns swam faster than her personal best time to win a closely fought race beating Jasmine McCrea into second place.

Kelman-Johns, who lives in Poundbury, trains with Swim Bournemouth and is a Year 11 pupil at Thomas Hardye School.

She added to this success in the first full weekend of Dorset Championships with further podium places in the finals of the 50m breaststroke and 100m individual medley, again improving on her personal best times in both finals.

Kelman-Johns’ next challenge is the British Championships, held during April in Glasgow, where she has qualified for both 50m and 100m Breaststroke.

Kelman-Johns has added reason for looking forward to the British Championships, having last year qualified for the championships in Edinburgh only to be thwarted by the heavy snow.
