ROBIN Ormsby notched the best top nett score with 42 points in Division Three to claim victory in the the men’s Sunday three clubs and a putter Stableford at Bridport and West Dorset Golf Club.

There were 40 entrants but club restrictions were no handicap as scores were on a par with a normal game despite the additional handicap of a stiff breeze.

The top nett score of the day was carded by Ormsby where score gave him a three-point advantage over runner-up Brian Austin.

Division Two produced the next highest score and that was 41 points from Jon Legg-Bagg but Division One did not quite

attain these dizzy heights, and there the top score was 37 points carded by Barry O’Mahony and Mike Savage with the former taking the top spot after countback.

RESULTS:

Division One: (acb) Barry O’Mahony (7) 37pts, Mike Savage (7) 37, Martin Horton(11) 35.

Division Two: Jon Legg-Bagg (13) 41pts, Bryan Holmes (15) 39, (acb) Tony Burt (15) 38.

Division Three: Robin Ormsby (20) 42 pts, (acb) Brian Austin(24) 39, Adrian Cuff(25) 39.

Ladies’ Section

ANNE Follett maintained her good form, taking top spot with 19 points when the 10-hole Stableford competition was played, writes Avril Brown.

Di Stothard finished second on 17, with third place going to Liz Thompson, also on 17 points.

In very cold icy conditions, the 10-hole Winter Stableford competition saw Sally Woolmington emerge victorious with a good score of 19 points.

Avril Brown was second with a close 18 points, while third place went to Anne Follett on 17 points.
