JACK Carter is looking forward to the step up as he faces his second professional bout at the Bournemouth O2 Academy.

The fight, which will take place this evening, will see the Portland boxer look to carry on his superb start to his professional career, after he beat Cristian Hoskins Gomez back in September.

Carter said: “It is a big line-up, I have definitely stepped it up. Two of the fighters that are on the bill are in the top 10 British fighters so it is a much better boxing card.”

Also on the bill for the fight are Christopher Billam-Smith and Joe Pigford, as well as fellow up-and-coming boxer Lee Cutler.

Carter has also been attending business meetings at the Weymouth Pavillion, which has paid off with some people from the meetings now among his sponsors.

Carter said: “I went there and did a talk to all of them which to be honest I found more nerve wracking than the actual fight!

Carter, who with his previous win is ranked 68th out of British boxers, is hoping he can keep stepping up to the plate and improving his ranking.

Carter said: “I should hopefully step up again.

“Boxing that last kid you see he was ranked 68th in the country so I took that.

“It was such a big jump I took, which was brilliant.

“Hopefully I can go down a bit more, if I can get down to the 30s, in two fights that would be something else.”

Carter is on the bill alongside Cutler, who is part of his training camp when he practices in Bournemouth.

However, Carter still does a lot of fitness training in his home town of Portland.

Carter said: “He is in there with me and we are both at the same stage and then you have got two top 10 british fighters on the bill, which is really good for me. That really brings the profile of the fight up.”
