BRIDPORT boss Adam Fricker is hoping for a repeat performance – not result – of the one shown against Plymouth Parkway as the Bees prepare to host Wellington at St Mary’s Field tonight (7.45pm).

Fricker’s men lost 2-0 to Parkway on Saturday despite dominating large spells of the game and missing a penalty, the Devon side punishing the Bees for squandering numerous chances.

Profligacy in front of goal has been a recent feature of Bridport’s play, with the West Dorset side failing to score in their last three outings.

And Fricker is keenly aware of the need to start converting goalscoring opportunities.

He told Echosport: “They’ve got to go out and do exactly what they did against Plymouth Parkway, obviously putting the ball in the back of the net would help.

“From a performance perspective they played really, really well but I did say ‘you can’t get away from the fact that you have to start putting your chances away, lads.’

“That’s the only thing we need to do (against Wellington), is take our chances and get an early goal which will probably settle everyone down.

“I’m hopeful we’ve been through the patch of injuries and suspensions and we can start to put a consistent team out. That’s the massive key for me.”

is the third against the Tangerines this season, but first in the Toolstation Western League Premier Division following two FA Cup ties – Bridport coming through 3-0 in an extra preliminary round replay after a 0-0 draw.

Fricker said: “They’re a very well-organised side, they’re a team that have been together for a long time. They’ve got a lot of strength in their side and they’re very difficult to break down.

“We know what we’ll be up against, their strengths and their weaknesses. Likewise, they’ll know ours.

“I’m more than confident if we go and put the performance in that we did on Saturday we should get that result – we just have to take those chances.

“It really is as simple as that because we’re creating them. We just need to start putting them in the back of the net.”

Sam Clark (hamstring) could return, and Street winger Oscar Latas is also set to play. Braeden Symes is available after suspension but Louis Rutter serves the second of his three-match ban.
