BRIDPORT & West Dorset Golf Club’s men’s Sunday competition was a Mason Shield qualifier, a four-ball betterball Stableford.
First were Nigel Challis and Geoff Joy, while Will Turner and Rob Smith claimed second and third went to Pat Hart and Lewis Craddock.
The midweek Stableford was won by David Woodroffe (7) after scoring 35 points.
Veterans’ Section
THERE were 54 entrants for the Thursday competition which was the first round of the Winter Shield, a competition played over four rounds.
No player managed to hit 40 points but scores in the high 30s were hit across the two divisions.
Ray Southcombe (14) topped Division One with 39 points.
Alan Harvey (20) and Roy Gill (13) followed, both with 38 points with the former taking the runner-up spot after countback.
Thirty-nine points was also the top score in Division Two and this was carded by John Harper (24).
Ladies’ Section
THE ladies all turned out to play a Stableford competition on Tuesday and Rosanne Bonfield (27) was victorious, playing to her handicap with 36 points, writes Sally Woolmington.
On her heels in second and third were Ruth Donovan (15) and Nicky Stone (6) who both scored 35 points.
Meanwhile, the nine-hole Stableford was won by Jean Stephens.
Many congratulations to Jane Dowling who collected three trophies at the Dorset County Ladies’ AGM at Ferndown.
She won the Olive James Salver for best Stableford score in high bronze division and shared
the Blythe Trophy for the best individual nett Stableford score by a veteran.
She also won the Russell Salver for the best nett aggregate Stableford scores from the Ladies’ County Spring and Autumn meetings.
