DORSET DOCKERS 119

BRIDPORT 12

A DEPLETED Bridport side were comprehensively thumped by second-placed Dorset Dockers in Wadworth 6X Dorset &Wilts One South.

The Blues travelled to the East Dorset high-flyers with a young understrength side due to injuries and the absence of key players.

As with their opening game of the season against Swanage they were predictably overwhelmed losing 119-12.

Their raw defence had no answer to the fast, powerful Dockers’ backs who were able to score at will in the first half breaking the defensive line with most attacks.

The Blues could only reply with an unconverted Waters’ try.

The second half was much of the same.

If the Blues were to take any positives from this game then it was the strong performance in the set-piece particularly the scrum where they forced several scrum penalties one of which lead to a converted Brazier try.

However, for the Blues this result highlights their lack of strength in depth and even with a number of young Colts coming through their lack of physicality against the strong running back lines of the teams at the top of the league means results like this are inevitable.

However as they showed last week, with the a full complement of players available they can test the top teams.

As they did after the Swanage game they will hope to bounce back at home to Blandford on Saturday.
