KATHY Wilkinson’s fantastic performances earned three titles at Seaton Tennis Club’s annual tournament finals.

The ladies’ singles final featured first-time finalists Wilkinson and Jenny Moroz and both ladies fought out long baseline rallies. The match was closer than 6-2, 6-2 suggested, but Wilkinson prevailed to take her first title.

In the men’s singles final between Richard Warrick and Barry Follett, the latter who took the first set 6-2, targeted Warwick’s backhand flank.

Warrick powered back in the second set but Follett edged the deciding tie-breaker 10-6 to lift the trophy.

The ladies’ doubles was between Julie Hopkinson alongside Jen Rose and Wilkinson with Carol Hurst, and the latter broke serve to take the first set 6-3 and edged the second 6-4.

The men’s doubles was contested by Follett and Peter Moroz and Simon Prior and Chris Rose. With big hitting and serve volley, Prior and Rose won five games in a row to take the first set. In the second set, returns from Prior and forehands from Rose brought up a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

The mixed doubles was between Moroz and Wilkinson and Follett and Jo Little in which Moroz and Wilkinson targeted Little to take the first set 6-2. Little and Follett fought back in the second set but Moroz and Wilkinson got over the line to take the second set 7-6.
