A TIRED Bridport side were held to a 0-0 draw by Longwell Green Sports in their penultimate game of the season in the Toolstation Western Premier Division.

Leighton Thomas hit the bar for Bridport in the first half, and Oscar Latas hit the woodwork with a header in the second half but Bridport struggled to get going and missed some half-chances.

Bridport boss Adam Fricker said: “We are happy, we said at the start about a month ago when we were about to embark on this run of all of these games in such a short space of time that it probably was not going to give us a true reflection of where we were going to be finish.

“I think that has been proved to be honest.

“I think on any other day we would have comfortably turned Longwell Green over, unfortunately the lads looked dead on their legs. They gave everything they had and I cannot fault them.”

Bridport head into their final game of the season on Saturday (3pm), hosting Odd Down, knowing that a point will secure eighth place, while a win will secure seventh.
