WIMBORNE SECONDS 55

BRIDPORT 0

The difference in the playing strengths of the top six teams in this league and the rest means there are inevitably games you know you will not win writes Stuart Briggs, as Bridport suffered a one-sided defeat to third place Wimborne Seconds in the Dorset & Wilts One South League.

This was the case for the Blues against third placed Wimborne in a match where Bridport were not helped by starting with only 14 players and they duly lost 55-0.

Fortunately for Bridport all of the teams below them in the league were playing against one of the top six sides and all lost heavily so the Blues maintained their league position of eighth, seven points clear of second from bottom Lytchett Minster.

Bridport have five games left to play, three of which are against top six sides and two against clubs below them in the league in the form of ninth and 10th placed North Dorset and New Milton respectively.

Their next game is on Saturday, 17th March against New Milton and is a fixture that was originally postponed two weeks ago.

If they show the spirit and fight they displayed in the recent game against Lytchett Minster, where they won 25-17 they will come away with a win which will go a long way to securing their place in Dorset & Wilts One South Division for next season.
