TWO Bridport teams from the Colfox Academy have qualified for the Southern England Final after the first round of the English Schools Cross Country Cup.

The junior and inter boys qualified for the final after both teams managed to finish in second, while the junior and inter girls missed out with a fourth and fifth place finish respectively.

The junior girls started the day off with a fine performance, just seven points off third place which would have seen them qualify.

The first Colfox girl home in seventh place was Lea Devecsery, followed by Cora Obrien, Lucy Selway, Zara English, Amelia Burt and Jess Barbe Baker.

The Junior Boys raced next as Owen Pitcher led the way by finishing in second, followed by Oliver Forsee, Oakley Winters-Obrien, Sam Devecsery, Bailey Huxter and Oliver Jones.

The Inter Girls were next and finished fifth with four very strong teams ahead of them.

Maddy Herbert was the first Colfox girl home in fourth with Ellen Pearce, May Cornwell, Flick Ackerman, Mia Williams and Daisy Parsons making up the other places.

Last to race was the Inter Boys and they matched the younger team’s performance as Gus Johnson was the first home with Fin Cauldwell, Harry Burwood, Mannie Wellman, Zakjohn Ousley and Jake Childs made up the other places.
