PREPARE for some spooktacular half term fun this Halloween.

The highly successful Lyme Slime 2k fun run is returning to the town on Sunday, October 29.

The family-friendly event is the final activity in the Lyme Slime Halloween Festival and bookings are now being taken.

Due to the popularity of last year's fun run, the maximum number of entrants will be increasing from 150 to 250. Participants will also be able to choose between the 1k (for those aged between three and five) and the event spookier 2k for everyone else.

Extra Halloween obstacles and challenges have been added along the eerie seafront route, including the sticky spider web, radioactive liquid station and an exciting new trick or treat challenge from Baboo Gelato.

Participants of all ages and abilities are welcome to run, jog or walk the course on their own or with family and friends.  Halloween-themed fancy dress is encouraged, and there will be a competition to choose the best male and female costume.

Event director, Sally Raynes from Wacky Nation, said: “We had a fantastic response last year with approximately 150 participants all dressed up in Halloween costumes.Everyone had a really great time and really got into the spirit of the event. It’s definitely the perfect opportunity for families to experience running together and having fun without any scary nightmares.”

Runners and spectators are invited to also visit the Spooky Fun Zone, where there will be children’s games and competitions in the marine parade shelters between 10am and 1pm.

The event is raising money for local charity The Word Forest Organisation, which plants urgently-needed forests in Kenya and builds schools for the impoverished communities that surround them.

The Word Forest Organisation's Tracey West said: “We’re incredibly excited to be involved in this fun event and every penny raised will make a huge difference to our communities over in Kenya."
