A CALL has gone out for all former players and officials of Burton Bradstock Football Club.

The club, known as the Burton Bradstock Canaries, are holding a reception in the village Reading Room next Friday, September 14, to celebrate their centenary year.

An exhibition of old team photographs will also be on show.

Club chairman, Chris Lamble is keen to track down former players so they can share in an evening of nostalgia for the 'beautiful game'.

He said: "It would be great if we could get as many players, past and present, together."

The collection of team photographs go back to 1907 with pictures from most decades and chart the highs and lows of football in the village, including cup triumphs and the dark years of the 1980's and 90's when there was no team in the village.

Football returned to the village in 2004 when a group of enthusiasts 'resuscitated' the Can-aries and established two five a side teams in the Bridport News Sunday League. Friendlies are also played.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 11am-2.30pm on Sept-ember 15.

There will also be a centenary match on the village Playing Fields at 3pm the same day.
