A SPOOKTACULAR event was such a success that organisers say it will return ‘even bigger and a lot scarier’ next
year.

The inaugural Lyme Slime Halloween Festival has been deemed an incredible success, with traders seeing an extremely busy half term as large numbers of visitors travelled from across the south west, and further afield, to enjoy the scary new addition to the Lyme Regis calendar of events.

Lyme Regis Town Mill, the Marine Theatre and Lyme Regis Museum all provided fun Halloween-themed activities and events all week to entertain families and the Bloor Homes Spine-tingling Town Trail was also very popular.

The Lyme Slime Fun Run at the end of the week again proved very popular, with 152 children and adults dressed as zombies, ghosts and witches tackling the 1k and 2k course along the promenade.

Runners faced various Hallowe’en-themed challenges, including the Radioactive Liquid Station, the Sticky Spiders Web and disgusting slime at the Baboo Gelato Trick or Treat table.

Jane from Boogie Bounce Xtreme treated the participants to a mass warm-up, and Lyme Regis mayor, Michaela Ellis, awarded prizes for the best male and female fancy dress.

All entrants received goodie bags of chocolate medals and drinks, donated by Tesco, and a vanilla lolly dipped in ‘blood’ supplied by Baboo Gelato.

All profit from the Lyme Slime Fun Run will be going to this year’s event charity The Word Forest Organisation.

Sally Raynes, event director at Wacky Nation, said: “We have been thrilled with how many local businesses and community organisations have joined with us to ensure that the Lyme Slime Halloween Festival was so entertaining for all the families involved throughout the half term holiday week.

“It was wonderful to again see all the effort that everyone went to with their fancy dress at the Lyme Slime Fun Run on Sunday and lovely to see everyone having such a great time.

“A special thank you must go to the students from Woodroffe School who offered encouragement to all the competitors along the route.

“The Lyme Slime Halloween Festival will return in 2018 even bigger and a lot scarier.”
