THE sound of horses and hounds were heard again in Beaminster Square on Boxing Day as members of the Cattistock Hunt gathered for its traditional meet.
It was the first time in more than 10 years the True Blue has met in a town and everything went ‘exceptionally well,’ according to joint master Liz Elliott.
She said there were about 80 on horses and a crowd of 1,000 who came out to greet the riders and the animals before they moved off to Beaminster Down to follow a scent trail.
Hunt officials worked with Beaminster Town Council, West Dorset District Council and Dorset Police to plan the event and supplied their own stewards to ensure everything ran smoothly.
MasterChef winner Mat Follas provided the refreshments from his Wild Garlic restaurant.
