Twenty one ground mounted panels are planned for Meerhay Cottage off the Meerhay Manor access road – which a planning agent says will be well screened from view by an existing mature hedgerow and trees.
Three rows of seven panels are being requested north west of the cottage in a planning application to Dorset Council for Kathyrn Haskins.
Said a planning agent, acting for Ms Haskins: “The proposed solar PV array will make an important contribution to the generation of energy from a renewable source. It will also address an existing issue of frequent power outages and an unreliable supply from the national grid, which the owner currently faces.”
Two similar planning applications had been approved for the site in the past decade, but were never built.
Public comments on the application, P/FUL/2026/04558 , can be submitted to Dorset Council on its website, or in writing to County Hall, by September 30.
