A COMMUNITY is to discuss ways to tackle flooding following major weather disruption in west Dorset last year.
Chideock Parish Council is organising a meeting for interested parties to discuss flooding and what can be done to prevent problems as winter approaches.
It is on Wednesday, September 23 at 7pm in the village hall.
In attendance will be Cat Taylor, National Trust Facilities & Support Services Co-Ordinator for West Dorset and Cranborne Chase as well as Andy Probets, Engineer – Flood & Coastal Risk Management from Dorset Council.
Sites of particular focus will be Pettycrate Lane, Seahill Lane and Mill Lane, where issues have arisen in previous years.
As previously reported, parts of Chideock were hit particularly hard last year after a winter of heavy rain, weather warnings and multiple storms.
In January, parts of Bridport were almost completely submerged after the River Brit burst its banks during Storm Chandra.
Villages including Burton Bradstock and Chideock were also affected.

A spokesperson for Chideock Parish Council said: “This is a public meeting and interested members of the public are encouraged to attend as this remains an issue of great importance to the village, and especially to those residents who have been directly affected by previous flooding.
“Key stakeholders will be in attendance including representatives from Dorset Council and the National Trust, and the focus will very much be on what we can do to make a difference together with partner agencies.”
