A touring production is set to come to a Bridport theatre next month.

The one-woman show Titania will be performed at the Lyric Theatre in Bridport on Thursday, June 25 from 7.30pm.

The new show follows the tragic adventures of A Midsummer Night’s Dream fairy queen Titania, played by Nia Gwynne, who also played Goneril in King Lear.

She has starred in BAFTA-winning films Darkest Hour and Pride.

The ethereal royal, from William Shakespeare's play, now finds herself stuck on earth, sweeping up theatres for scraps of food.

She tries to piece together the events that led her to her present state.

Oberon, her partner, has disappeared, and Puck, a sprite, now roams the digital world, and refuses to return.

With the fairy kingdom almost vanished and the seasons have faltered, Titania's world has shifted drastically.

With an intriguing blend of confession, stand-up, spell, and mourning, the play explores powerful themes like love, loss, and the instinct to preserve what is slipping away.

The play, directed by Dictynna Hood, is a blend of myth and modernity, designed to blur the lines between humans and fairies, and the past and the present.

Nia Gwynne is a Royal Academy of Dramatic Art graduate with extensive experience in theatre, film, and television, notably working with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Dictynna Hood, also an award-winning writer and director of internationally recognised feature films like Us Among the Stones and Wreckers, takes the director's chair for this production.

Tickets for the Bridport performance cost £12 and are non-refundable.
