An acclaimed powerful one‑woman play is returning to west Dorset.
The play Every Brilliant Thing was a sell-out last year, with rave reviews for Romla Walker in Bridport.
Romla Walker is bringing her outstanding performance to the Marine Theatre, Lyme Regis on Thursday, March 19 with performances at 1.30pm and 7.30pm.
Producers are exploring taking this production to London in the autumn. The playwright, Duncan MacMillian, has agreed it can be deemed a professional production, which is a great tribute to Romla and director Margie Barbour.
The play is about a young girl who, after her mum does 'something stupid' when she has acute depression, decides to make a list for her mother about all the things that make life worth living.
Every Brilliant Thing has been described as a funny, moving and interactive play that reveals the effect of mental illness on families.
The performances in Bridport raised more than £1,000 for suicide charities: James’ Place UK and The Samaritans, and post-show discussions gave the audiences opportunities to speak of their reaction to the play and its themes.
This is a one-person professional production and tickets are going fast. Buy them from either Marine Theatre website, online, Bridport Tourist Information Centre 01308 424901, Lyme Regis Book Shop. The production will again be raising funds for suicide charities.
