An award-winning play is coming to a west Dorset village hall later this month.

Hannah Maxwell's I, AmDram, which won the 2025 Weekly Award for Best Theatre at Adelaide Fringe, will be performed in Powerstock as part of a programme by local charity Artsreach.

The show is an affectionate tribute to amateur dramatics, inspired by Ms Maxwell's family’s 90-year history with the Welwyn Thalians Musical and Dramatic Society.

Ms Maxwell will perform in Powerstock on Saturday, November 22.

Tickets and full details are available online at artsreach.co.uk, with the performance starting at 7.30pm.

Audiences can anticipate an hour of anecdotes, musical parodies and basic choreography, recalling the actress's final year doing am dram in 2010, when she performed in My Fair Lady.

The show also touches on her personal experiences, such as coming out as gay.

I, AmDram has entertained audiences across the UK, Australia and Europe.

The performance cleverly explores the gap between the identities people assert and the worlds they leave behind, using comedy, music, spoken word and Gilbert & Sullivan references.
