An adaptation of The Three Little Pigs, co-written by three pupils from St Mary's School, is set to be performed in Bridport.

The children worked with Stuff and Nonsense, a family theatre company based in the town, to create a new version of the classic story.

The show will be performed at the Bridport Arts Centre on Friday, February 28, for local school children, and on Saturday, March 1, for families.

The children worked alongside the professional cast and team for more than 18 months, contributing their ideas to create a unique take on the classic story.

The pupils attended rehearsals, directed actors and helped develop the characters.

Niki McCretton, director of the show and owner of The Lyric Theatre in Bridport, said: "I am so proud to be presenting this show at Bridport Arts Centre.

"Our Lyric stage is too small for Stuff and Nonsense shows so being invited to present The Three Little Pigs at the Arts Centre is really special for us.

"Especially because this show was written by three local children."

The children also attended part of the rehearsal process at the National Theatre in London, where they received a comprehensive tour of the backstage area.

Claire Tudge, director at Bridport Arts Centre, said: "Stuff and Nonsense is one of Bridport’s greatest contemporary exports, lauded around the country as being a benchmark of excellence in children’s theatre.

"To be able to present some of their work, co-created by local children, to local audiences is a privilege."

Tickets are available on the Bridport Arts Centre website.
