A local amateur dramatic group's pantomime performance will transport the audience to the seven seas.

Following the successes of their 2024 pantomime and their two one-act summer comedy plays, the Burton Bradstock Players are returning to perform a new pantomime.

According to the local amateur dramatic group, it is growing in strength and popularity, which helped it to gain new members, and now they are about to put on Panto 25, "Avast Behind", which according to the group is a true story of Treasure Island, a tale of treachery on the high seas with pirates, cannibals and a beautiful mermaid.

Carole Houghton, Producer and Co-Director, says that tickets have been flying out the door for the pantomime this year: “We have had amazing support and encouragement from our local community who have pulled together to help along with local businesses like Freshwater Beach Holiday Park, Modbury Farm Shop, Palmers Brewery, Burton Bradstock Garage, The Seaside Boarding House, RJ Balson & Son, Oxford Bakery, Haddon House, The Anchor Inn and The Three Horseshoes to name just a few who have sponsored us in ways which has been truly amazing.

“We started rehearsals at the end of September and it’s been all go since then.

“It’s been absolutely amazing to see that tickets have been flying out and we think that’s off the success of Goldilocks and the three bears last year as all shows sold out then.”

Speaking about what guests can expect, Carole said: “There’s going to be a lot going on, a lot of throwing, a lot of surprises.

“There’s a lot going on, we’ll also have refreshments of ice cream and tea and coffee on our matinee performances and we can’t wait to welcome everyone there.

“We have had a lot of fun putting the show together and what we hope is our audiences will clap, boo and laugh very loudly which will help and encourage us to do it all again next year....Oh yes it will.”

The shows will take place on Thursday 20, Friday 21, and Saturday 22 of February in the Burton Bradstock Village Hall. A local band of musicians will perform an accompaniment led by music co-ordinator Alan Hooley.

The group are always on the lookout for more members. For more information of how to join Burton Bradstock Players contact Carole Houghton on 07764523182.
