A group of singers are welcoming new members as they start rehearsals for their next concert.
The West Dorset Singers meet at the United Church Hall on Tuesday evenings to rehearse three pieces which will be performed at the group's next concert on Saturday January 25 at St Swithun's Church, Bridport.
It will begin with Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise followed by Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens which featured in the wedding of Kate and William in Westminster Abbey in 2011.
The third piece is the more subversive and jovial Poulenc’s Gloria, dating from 1961, which mixes the deeply spiritual with that of the dance hall.
The choir was founded in 1966 and generally perform two or three concerts a year with a repertoire centred around the great choral cantatas, masses and oratorios.
It is particularly interested in alto, tenor and bass singers but all are welcome to join.
