A man from Dorset is challenging himself to run along the Jurassic Coast in honour of his mum, following her recent battle with ovarian cancer.
Josh Tucker, 28, is aiming to complete a 116 mile journey across the Jurassic Coast in just four days - which will equate to running more than a marathon each day on average.
He will be starting on September 26 from Exmouth at Orcombe Point and plans to set up camp along the way through Bridport, West Bay and Weymouth, before finishing on his home soil in Poole on September 29.
Josh chose to take on this challenge to raise money for the charity Target Ovarian Cancer, a cause close to his heart, as his mum was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer last year.
Josh said: "My mum was diagnosed last year and it has been a crazy journey for her. She went through six months of chemotherapy which included a nine hour operation.
"She had an amazing team surrounding her and had the majority of the cancer removed but she'll be on this target therapy for the rest of her life.
"I want to raise as much as possible for the charity with this run in honour of my mum as she's faced so many other things in the past five years. I've always wanted to do something for charity and this gave me the inspiration to do something."
Josh, who is originally from Poole and now lives in London, has set up a JustGiving fundraiser page with a goal of £5,000 and so far raised more than half of his target with the total currently at £2,808.
Having described himself as an avid runner with a passion for the outdoors, Josh said this is a fitting challenge which will be a testament to the strong relationship he has with his mum.
He added: "She is incredibly touched that I wanted to do this. At first she was a bit scared but you've got to take big risks sometimes when wanting to raise a lot of money.
"I have an amazing relationship with my mum. I feel privileged and very lucky that she raised me and my brother to become lovers of the outdoors and nature, taking us on lots of hikes and walks. It's encouraged me to be outdoorsy as well.
"She's one of the most positive, caring and passionate people I know. She's always thinking of other people and has a great sense of humour so doing this is an honour.
"My mum is not on her own suffering from this aggressive cancer and I want to do what I can help raise as much money to support Target Ovarian Cancer who help those suffering from this disease."
