Dog owners have been warned to keep their pets on leads after a dog attacked a sheep.
Bridport Police has issued a statement on social media reporting that a dog attacked a sheep in the Wootton Fitzpaine area.
While the incident is reported to have occurred between 6pm on Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1, Bridport Police has issued a social media post today appealing for information.
The force has also issued an urgent reminder to all dog owners to keep their pets on leads especially near livestock.
A spokesperson for Bridport Police said: “There has been a dog attack on a sheep in the Wootton Fitzpaine area. This occurred sometime between 6pm on Friday May 31 and 7am on Saturday, June 1.
“Please let us know if you have any information on this crime, by calling 101, or reporting online at https://orlo.uk/KwryC/ and use reference number 55240084165.
“A reminder to all dog owners/walkers; please keep your dog on a lead when in a livestock area. It is an offence to allow your dog to cause distress, let alone attack livestock.
“Please check that the field is completely clear of other animals before letting them loose. Also, remember that if a dog is not close by, so you can grab them if needed, they are not under your control.”
