Residents in west Dorset are being invited to attend a wellbeing event in Bridport aimed at fostering community health and vitality.

Help & Care, in collaboration with the Jurassic Coast Primary Care Network, will be hosting a drop-in event at the Bridport Youth and Community Centre on Gundry Lane on Friday, June 14 from 10am to 3pm.

The event aims to cultivate a culture of wellbeing within the community through a diverse array of activities and services.

Andrea Sedman Hobson, Locality Manager at Dementia Care at Help & Care, said: "We're excited to bring the community together for a day of wellness and connection at our upcoming drop-in wellbeing event at Bridport Youth and Community Centre.

"Our goal is to provide a welcoming space where individuals can explore the support available for their health and wellbeing right here in West Dorset. Join us as we prioritise community wellness and foster connections that strengthen us all."

Attendees can anticipate an array of supportive resources tailored to enhance health and wellness.

From blood pressure checks to dementia awareness experiences, resources for caregivers, and refreshments will also be on offer.

A highlight of the event includes the presence of the pharmacy team, offering blood pressure readings and introducing the newly developed ‘BP@Home’ phone app created by Omron.

This innovative tool empowers individuals in managing hypertension, enabling convenient blood pressure monitoring from the comfort of home, while facilitating seamless communication with healthcare providers.

At 10.30am on the day Live Well Dorset will also be present a session on enhancing overall wellbeing, offering practical tips and advice.

Later, at 12.30pm, Citizen’s Advice will deliver a brief talk on managing the cost of living.

A spokesperson for the Jurassic Coast Primary Care Network said: "We are really excited to collaborate with Help and Care to bring this wellbeing event to our local communities.

"With resources to address physical, mental and overall holistic health, we really do feel there will be something for everyone."

The wellbeing event is open to all members of the community, with no advance booking required.

The Rotary Club of Bridport, Bridport Lions Club, and Age UK have all supported the event.
