Dorset rail commuters may have their journey disrupted as a result of an earlier landslide.

Following a landslip which blocked the rail track between Axminster and Honiton, train services operating in Dorset may still be cancelled, delayed or revised.

This impacts stations including Axminster, Sherborne and Gillingham.

Buses were taking the place of trains on the affected section of track.

Specialist workers managed to rectify the issue and travellers were advised to check services on its journey planner page.

A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: “We were informed earlier of a landslip between Axminster and Honiton.

“The issue has since been rectified and all lines have now reopened, but some services may be cancelled, delayed or revised whilst normal service resumes.”

Rail users may be able to claim compensation for disrupted journeys.

Tickets will be accepted, at no extra cost to the following services:
- GWR services between Exeter, Reading and London Paddington
- London underground via any reasonable route between London Paddington and Waterloo
- Stagecoach South West 1 between Exeter and Pinhoe
- Stagecoach South West 4 between Exeter St Davids and Cranbrook
- Stagecoach South West 9 between Honiton and Exeter (long route via Sidmouth)
- Stagecoach South West X30 between Honiton and Exeter
- Stagecoach South West 44 and 44A between Axminster - Honiton - Cranbrook – Exeter.
