DESPITE missing out on a play-off place, Witton Albion have had a season to celebrate – and that success translates to their junior set-up.

And one of their teams in particular has developed a healthy habit of winning trophies.

Witton Wasps under 13s have secured a league and cup double, with their latest league crown meaning they have finished their season as champions for the second campaign in a row.

They sealed the title with four league games still to go, and there was still the prospect of a league and cup double given they had reached the President’s Cup Final.

That was played against Frodsham Town at Middlewich Town FC and, fittingly, Witton emerged 4-2 victors.

James Priestley’s hat-trick led the team to cup final glory, with Noah Kelly also on the scoresheet as the Wasps capped a memorable season.

“We started the team around 3-4 years ago and they have developed into lovely little footballers, but the main takeaway from me is the togetherness within the group,” says Scott Burstow, who helps run the team alongside managers Craig Humphries and Mikey Elton.

“They are a great set of lads with super supportive parents.

“Craig, Mikey and I are really proud of this season’s achievements and are really looking forward to next season and where we can take the team.”
