A successful Easter raffle took place in Bridport raising more than £1600 to help community groups in the area.

Bridport Lions Club held a raffle for an Easter hamper and chocolate egg on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 in Morrisons, raising just over £300.

The winners, Philip Symes and Juliet Busby, were presented with their prizes by Lions President Clive Greenaway.

A further £1300 was raised for the charity from another 17 establishments who organised a raffle which lasted over several weeks for a Thorntons Easter egg. 

Mr Greenaway said: “It is heart-warming to see the number of businesses in our community who are so willing, year on year, to help us in our endeavours. The monies raised are already being used to help people.”
