Urgent repairs are needed to electrical cables that will force a road to close Lyme Regis.

Dorset Council has issued a public notice that will prevent any vehicles from driving along Coombe Street between the entrance to Bethany Chapel and Dinosaurland, a distance of approximately 50 metres.

The road closure will allow National Grid safe access to carry out 'urgent repairs to underground service cable'.

It will come into operation on Monday, April 15, 2024 and remain in force for five days, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by Friday, April 19.

The notice is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise likelihood of danger to highway users.

The alternative route, which will be sign posted is as follows: Monmouth Street - A3052 - B3165 - Hill Road.

For further information about the work being undertaken and access arrangements, call National Grid on 07920 836910.

Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the notice will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000.
