The public has been asked to be vigilant for signs of unlicensed gatherings at disused buildings, industrial sites or in rural areas.

Illegal raves have been known to happen in Dorset over the bank holiday weekends.

Dorset Police are asking people to look out for 'suspicious signs' including speakers or generators being brought to locations, suspicious vehicle movements or notices being put up at disused premises to say that legal squatting is taking place.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "As we are now in the Easter weekend, we would like to remind members of the public to be vigilant for signs of unlicensed gatherings taking place at disused buildings, industrial sites or in rural areas.

"We are also encouraging landowners in rural areas to take steps to reduce the risk of unauthorised occupation of their land by checking perimeter are secure, restricting vehicle access, cutting off electricity to barns and outbuildings that are not being used and speaking to neighbouring properties to ask them to call the police straight away if they see any suspicious activity."

Anyone who sees any suspicious activity in their area is asked to report it to Dorset Police. If the activity is in progress, dial 999.
