A lace making group is looking for new members to join their monthly gatherings this year.

Stratton Lace Makers, who meet once a month at Stratton village hall, is looking for more people to join their bobbin lace making craft.

The craft involves using thread wound on bobbins to create delicate designs which can then be used as edgings for placemats, handkerchiefs or attached to clothing.

The pricking has to be prepared before starting work and comprises of many dots which are pricked for the pin holes.

The bobbins are wound with the thread and held in place on the pricking with pins.

The group has been running for many years, starting as adult education classes in the 1980s and mov to several locations before settling at Stratton where they have remained for nearly 20 years.

Gillian Membury, Stratton Lace Makers' administrator, said: "Bobbin lace making is a very relaxing craft to do, even though it looks complicated.

“We meet on the first Saturday of each month at Stratton village hall from 10am till 3pm, tea and coffee are provided. We charge a small fee of £5 per meeting to cover the cost of the room hire.”

To find out more information about the group and how to sign up, you can contact Gilliam Membury on 01305 268302.
