Walkers wanting to hike from Lyme Regis to Axmouth will not be able to do so after a coastal path was closed.

A temporary path closure has been issued along the South West Coast Path that runs through the Undercliffs National Nature Reserve.

This comes after several landslips in the area west of Lyme Regis caused the route to be unsafe.

Walkers wishing to travel between Lyme Regis and Axmouth are being advised to take a bus, as there are no suitable diversions available.

A spokesperson for the South West Coast Path said: "Over the last several days, we have had two new landslip events on the South West Coast Path.

"A temporary path closure is in place from Axmouth to Lyme Regis through the Undercliffs National Nature Reserve and there is currently no suitable diversion.

"If you wish to travel from Axmouth to Lyme Regis you are advised to catch a bus."
