A fundraising group from Bridport held a successful curry lunch for locals raising over £3,000 for a cancer charity.
The Bridport Cancer Research group held its annual curry lunch at Martins Restaurant at Highlands End Caravan Park on Thursday, February 22.
A team of volunteer committee members and chefs from the restaurant prepared chicken and beef curry with dahl and all the trimmings plus a selection of puddings for 113 attendees.
Raffle prizes were also donated which contributed to the fundraising total.
The lunch event subsequently raised a grand total of £3,207.50 for Cancer Research UK.
Lucy Fearon, Bridport Cancer Research Fundraising Group volunteer, said: “My reason for raising the money is that each and every one of us has been affected (or being affected) by cancer in our lifetime.
“If we can help research and development by providing funds then there will be more and more people enduring treatment but also being cured.
"Any amount of money raised is good but when we raised nearly £3,208, we were delighted and motivated to raise more at our next event.”
