A quiz night is being held in Bridport to raise money for the Royal Air Force Association (RAFA).

The Bridport & District Social Club will be hosting the event on Saturday, February 24 and will raise money for the RAF Association's Wings Appeal.

The Appeal is the RAF Association's fundraising campaign that runs throughout the year. It is the fundraising arm of the Association and helps raise vital funds needed to support serving and ex-RAF personnel and their families

Former RAF engineer Mike White is helping to put on the event which is being run by the Bridport & Lyme Regis RAFA group.

He said:  "It’s an early start for the annual September Wings Appeal to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

"We will be holding several fundraising events leading up to September. Namely, at the Charter fair on Bridport’s Millennium Green on May 18 and a morning of music and dance on Bucky Doo Square on August 24. All proceeds will go to supporting RAF veterans in need."

Mike, also known as 'Knocker', is no stranger to raising funds for charity after recently completed Tommy 10,000 challenge for the Royal British Legion.

He raised a total of £559 after completing the challenge which involved walking 10,000 steps a day and was welcomed with a reception by friends on its completion at Bucky Doo Square on January 31.
