More than £10,000 has been shared by six community organisations in Lyme Regis.

The Lyme Regis Community Bingo Association (LRCBA) distributed funds totalling £10,200 to the six local organisations which are part of the association.

These are Lyme Regis Over 70s Christmas Lunch Fund, Lyme Regis Christmas Lights, St Michael's CE Primary School PFA, Lyme Regis, Lyme Regis Foodbank, Lyme Regis Football Club and Lyme Regis Pantomime Society.

Michaela Ellis, Chair of LRCBA, said: “It’s so wonderful to distribute such significant amounts, providing much welcome financial support to the member organisations.

“Bingo remains a popular pastime and it’s encouraging to see some new faces as well as our valued regulars. We are grateful to all those who come along for a fun night out as each time they play they are helping raise vital funds for groups within our community.”

Each organisation received £1,700 and share their gratitude for the donations.

Susan Davies, Chair of Lyme Regis Foodbank CIC, said: “Lyme Regis Foodbank wish to a say a big thank you to the Lyme Regis Bingo Association for their generous and kind donation. We would also like to say thanks to all the volunteers that kindly support us and especially all the wonderful bingo players who attend each week.

Football Club president Philip Evans MBE added: “Since the Community Bingo Association was launched several years ago, the participating six organisations have received tens of thousands of pounds. It also provides a friendly meeting place, especially for the elderly.

“We would like to thank Michaela Ellis and her team for working so hard to make the association such a success and all the who support the weekly bingo sessions.”

Cash bingo is held every Thursday evening at the Woodmead Halls. Doors open 7.30pm with bingo starting at 8pm.
