Two beloved goats have been stolen from a farm in west Dorset, leaving a family devastated.

Margoat and Robbie are both 10-month-old pygmy goats and considered ‘family’ to their owners who are desperate to see them returned safely.

The goats were stolen from the family’s Greenacres property in the west Dorset village of Marshwood at around 10pm yesterday, Thursday.

The Hill family, who have lived on the farm for nearly two years, say they think several men turned up in a 4x4 vehicle to snatch the goats – believing the perpetrators knew exactly what they were doing.

The moment the thieves turned up to the farm was recorded on CCTV which shows a vehicle turning into the drive before one person is caught briefly by the camera.

Alice Hill, 25, lives on the farm with her parents Mark and Kendra Hill and spoke to the News about what she witnessed as her beloved pets were taken away.

She said: “Last night our goats were stolen, and we are desperately trying to get them back.

“They came down the drive and straight to the pen on the left. You would have had to know they were there -  they swung straight in.

“I heard voices and I think it was three men. They put them into a 4x4 and reversed out.

“It’s horrendous they are like our family. To take our two pets is just horrendous.”

The family is appealing for anyone with any information to come forward and have reported the incident to Dorset Police.

They are offering a cash reward for the safe return of Margoat and Robbie who they have known since birth.

Alice added: “We bought them from friends, they grew up on the farm opposite and we have known them since the day they were born – it is horrible someone would come on to our property and take them.

“It’s shocked the village a bit– it is just horrible it has happened here.”

"We are prepared to offer a cash reward for the safe return of our two loving pets.

"We’ve been around them since the day they were born and have a lot more sentimental value than cash value."

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “We received a report at 11.13pm on Thursday, January 11 relating to the theft of two goats from a yard in Marshwood.

“It was reported that the theft was believed to have occurred shortly before 10pm that evening.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. No arrests have been made.”
