A SHOP in Chancery Lane, Bridport, is to be converted into a home.
The unit, a former tattoo business, at 2 Bramley House, will be altered internally to make it suitable as a home.
Dorset Council has agreed the proposal from Mr Jonathan Ellis which includes a bedroom, living room/kitchen with a small second bedroom, or study, and a bathroom.
A planning agent told Dorset Council that after the tattoo shop relocated to South Street several months were spent trying to attract a new commercial use – but without success, mainly because the site is considered too far away from the town’s main shopping area and has only one, small, parking space.
Bridport Town Council supported the change of use saying that while the loss of a retail unit was not ideal the town does have a need for smaller, potentially more affordable properties.
